Kids Vs. No Kids
Kids Vs. No Kids
So kids or no kids?
I can't deny that whenever a baby is around me, I'm reduced to a baby-talking-googoo-gaga mess. They're just too cute... but it's horribly UGH when everything spins out of control.
Instead of sitting there peacefully while giving you that wee adorable grin... they start weewee-ing over the place. Screaming for milk. Refusing to sleep/refusing to let you sleep. In a nutshell, I adore 'em little folks (thanks to my ruddy maternal instinct)... but I don't fancy the not so rosy bits. Maybe I should get a dog instead, hmmn.
Plus, if I have children, I won't be able to do whatever I like anymore- all the hard earned kaching will then go to the brat's education fund. If my parents never had us, they will prolly be sailing around the world in a luxury cruise... ten years ago.
But if I do pop, it'll be two- a boy and a girl. The boy will be older and will have to protect his younger sister... or face my fist of fury. Oh another con! I'll make a bad mum, what with my violent tendencies.
P.s. I'm not pregnant

Helping a friend spread the word: Halloween Party!
Date: 4th November (Sunday)
Time: 7.30 - late
Venue: Sunshine Bar, Asian Heritage Row, K.L.
Entrance fee: RM38 (includes dinner, free flow of soft drinks, games and prizes)
Organized by: Stamford College Student Council
Contact no: 012.699.9308
I'm not really into clubbing scene of late (too old) but since it's Fee and Nic's event, I should be going!
Quite determined to dress up for this year's Halloween- though I'm not too sure as what... All I can think up right now is me wearing a painted white cardboard box- I'm a TOFU! Geddit.
Tat won't be there that night as he has exams the very next day... there goes my dreams of attending in couple costumes (Shrek and Fiona, King and Queen of Hearts, Tweedledee and Twiddledum, Doraemon and Doraelin etc.) :(

Of being mad and mad
Of being mad and mad
When I'm furious, I tend to lose control and shout. I will yell at whoever it is to shut it and go to hell. Okay, fine. I will also scream at whoever it is to stick something up somewhere complete with a barrage of tastefully chosen swear words.
But when I'm beyond angry (hurt, disappointed, betrayed)... I'll go really quiet. And keep really still.
On an unrelated note, Jasmine recommended The History of Love by Nicole Krauss to me:-

She said that it was really good; I've read so far and I'm saying that it's really, really good. Thanks, Jas!

Gingerbreadman once more
Gingerbreadman once more
The run today was fine, except for two incidents:-
Ouch
I was running along the path when I realised there was a wedding shoot up ahead of me. Not wanting to become one of their backdrops, I ran off path- and when my left foot hit the bumpy mud trail, the ankle got a little twisted... I had to limp a bit but I ran it off by the fifth round so it's all good.
Crazy construction worker
During the last solitary round (Li Tat had already called it a day), I felt a little unnerved as one of the construction workers up ahead the trail was eyeing me and walking towards my direction. I HAD to run past him- and when I did, he ran straight at me with his arms flailing while giving some kind of war cry. Crazy mofo! I took two step back and resisted the urge to stick my foot out as he whizzed past me, hooting like a maniac. It would've been nice to see him flying.

Face palm incident of the day:-
During the run, I encountered my first 'dog attack'. There was a dog waiting at the gate for its owner, and needless to say, when I RAN past it... it charged after me. It would have chased me if I ran on, but I did the next best thing... I stood really still and covered my eyes with my hands. *FACE PALM*
Luckily it wasn't some bigass german shepherd, man. It was some yappy little mongrel which scattered off after Tat bounded up menacingly.

Tallest lady in the world
Tallest lady in the world
I'm 5 ft 1", and I've always been whining about my height (read: too short!!!). But I've learnt to zip it after reading about Yao Defen's plight on how being too tall- isn't all sunshine and roses either.
Photos and extracts from her appeal site:-

Yao Defen is 34 years old and 7ft 8" tall

Defen suffers from Agromegaly, a disease resulting from a tumour on the pituitary gland causing it to pump out excess growth hormone.
She has been told she could go blind in a matter of months and die within a year.
Defen was diagnosed with the disease when she was 15 (6 ft tall then). Her family were too poor to pay for surgery, so Defen was sent back to her village where she continued to grow and grow. The family home was too small for her to live in so she slept in the stable with the animals. More here.
I've chanced upon this a little too late, as the donation drive on the appeal site has closed. But it wouldn't hurt to share what's happening in the world, and I believe that more prayers for Defen would really help :)

I'm supposed to be my own chauffeur for the whole of next week... which is a laugh to everyone who knows me- because I am not only a hazard on foot, I cause problems on the road too. BIG problems. I'm sure Gene remembers how I was supposed to fetch him one day- and ended up having him pick me up... with a tow truck.
Li Tat has been planting me firmly behind the wheel these few days and giving me driving tips. When I say driving tips I mean him not saying anything AT ALL while I drive, then him correcting me the last minute when I take a wrong turning, causing me to swerve!!! while other cars honk at me rather nastily.
I hate it when they honk.

This is me driving home after today's jog, wondering which way to go?! Note the panicky expression and tight steering wheel grip

What I did yesterday
What I did yesterday

This is my rolled-out-of-the-bed-splashed-water-on-my-face-ok-i'm-up morning face, so excuse it. I find getting up from bed kinda hard nowadays... despite me sleeping for more than 10 solid hours
We had lunch at Coliseum Cafe, sad to say but the service there has dwindled over the years. The price of the food stayed the same though, if not more expensive. I think we asked them for water refills too many times... 'cause after the third time, the waiter slammed a jug of water in the middle of the table and stalked off.
Headed home and played with the dogs... I think Leo's warming up to me! He had always been aloof and had a tendency to snap if I touched him; but now he's coming up to me with a sock in his mouth for a game of tug-of-war, or to show me his 'paw' trick so I'd give him a rewarding pat on the head. I'm melting...
Then it was back to KL for buffet dinner with Tat's family at Crowne Plaza Hotel's Planter's Inn. I was a bit nervous as the dinner included Tat's extended family... I'm not sure how good of an impression I gave, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't tip any drinks on anyone or chew with my mouth open.

So I have a temper... and maybe OCD
Before I digress further, Tat accidentally said something which made me downright pissy. To show my fury, I flung my lemon slice hard onto the sidewalk and huffed off. Li Tat- being a sweetheart- quickly went after me to try to appease me.
As I stamped off angrily, half of my mind was on that lemon slice (which harmlessly bounced off the sidewalk onto the grass). I imagined that lone yellow curve in the middle of the greens... and the OCDness in me made me stomp back to the lemon slice, pick it up, stomp over to the nearest dustbin, then unceremoniously chuck it.
I don't think the sudden 180 degree turns amused Li Tat much.

Stand with the Burmese Protesters
Stand with the Burmese Protesters
Burma is ruled by one of the worst military dictatorships in the world. Last month Buddhist monks and nuns began marching and chanting prayers to call for democracy. The protests spread and hundreds of thousands of Burmese people joined in -- but they've been brutally attacked by the military regime.
I just signed a petition calling on Burma's powerful ally China and the UN security council to step in and pressure Burma's rulers to stop the killing. The petition has exploded to over 500,000 signatures in a few days and is being advertised in newspapers around the world, delivered to the UN Security Council, and broadcast to the Burmese people by radio. We're trying to get to 1 million signatures this week, please sign the petition and tell everyone!

You can't catch me, I'm the Ginger Bread Man!
You can't catch me, I'm the Ginger Bread Man!
So I slathered on generous amounts of sunscreen, tucked a 10rm note into my flip phone, popped on my red running shoes and left the house. The convenience store is say- two blocks and a main road away, so I decided to sprint. And sprint I did, partially in fear of meeting any dodgy characters on the way.
There weren't much cars around save for a car which slowed down at the intersection and had the driver stare at me. Prolly wondering "What the heck is this crazy girl doing running about in the blazing afternoon?!" Yeah, I don't know either.
Thanks to the black cat I met (bad omen- I'm too superstitious for my own good), I got a little paranoid and the sprint became a run for my life. And with that run, I made it back and forth in 2 mins +/- (excluding the time it took to purchase the credit).
Imagine my relief when I squeezed through the tiny opening of the gate (paranoia strikes again! If the auto-gate's opened too widely it will take longer to shut- and someone might take that opportunity to get in).
But it was a good run.

Being adults
Being adults
A whole weekend of staying in while watching telly/gaming/making tea/whatever old people do! But like any married couple we gotta look after the babies... Dogs are pretty demanding (meals, walks, playtime, bones) 'specially this lot.
The last time I took Smuffy (the smaller of the two) out for a walk, she practically dragged me across the road with me flailing about like a rag doll while clinging on to the leash. Needless to say, I emerged from the war with some power battle scars- scrapes on my palms and bruises on my knees.
Too bad Li Tat's dogs are two healthily sized golden retrievers instead of puny yappy (adorable) toy dogs.
But it's nice to have a glimpse of what the future will be with him- even if fleetingly.

The Spilt Chilli Incident
I had nuggets while watching I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry at the movies. Instead of squirting the accompanied chilli sauce into the cardboard box, I ended up with a huge blob of it on my lap. Li Tat being the usual gentleman- continued to heehaw at the movie's funnies while I wiped off the offending slime dolefully.
Footnote:
This reminded me of the incident I had when I was about 10. My family and I were having dinner at some swanky Chinese restaurant with friends, and the fake blood in my bag decided to burst out from its capsule and leak (fake blood being one of the props for this homemade horror movie my friends and I were making. Barbie dolls and tea parties were never enough to satiate me as a child).
It leaked from my bag onto the rear part of my jeans... I was SO mortified- my mother even more so. I remember an aunty asking my mother in a hush-hush tone if I had my period. My mother then answered her through gritted teeth, "No, it's her usual nonsense" while I nonchalantly tied a given sweater around my waist.
Spoilt Corn In Cup Incident:
I knew by not purchasing corn in cup from my favourite haunt, it wouldn't taste as nice. What I didn't know is that the corn in cup from the new shop would be... rotten. After two mouthfuls of corn (one for me, one for Li Tat) we acknowledged the fact that my 2.70rm corn was wayyy beyond its expiry date. Spit spat.
Footnote:
I did feel like returning to the shop for a refund demand, but I decided not to cause a scene... also because Li Tat restrained me from doing so by promising another corn in cup from another shop. Yay.

Somewhat happier

And camwhoring last night before zzzing. Remember this guy? Yeah it's now covered with somebody's drool so the tiger has to be my new comfort toy. R.I.P. Mr Duckie (until it's washed... and disinfected)

Being Nemo
Being Nemo
Anyway, I'm proud to announce that for the duration of my holidays, I've managed to get in the process of learning how to swim. Progress so far include me emerging from my closet swimsuit hunt with two bikinis plus a one piece (which has a flouncy skirt egad); me holding my breath under water then flailing my arms helplessly whenever water goes up my nose; me being able to float for half a minute before sinking.
Give about- a year and I'm pretty sure I might be able to swim by then!
...Might. Oh God why can't I swim?! Like it's against my nature. Bloody.
Jam's an emo nemo :( I foresee more swimming posts on my attempt to wean off floaty boards. I really hate it when I'm paddling amiably along on a bright yellow floaty board and a kid has to ruin my mood by gliding past me with a smug smirk without floaty anythings. Show off!
